Downtown Bloomington Inc. celebrates downtown revitalization with a presentation of annual awards projects that help move downtown forward. Since 1984, Downtown Bloomington Inc. has followed a time tested approach to downtown revitalization through the National Main Street Approach that focuses on Promotion, Design, Economic Vitality, and Organization. Congratulations to this year’s award winners!
PROMOTION AWARD : hYPe Lauren Dexter and Kelsie Holt
hYPe [Helping Young People Excel] involves millennials in the community by hosting monthly networking events. They also connect with other communities for best practices. The support from our young people for downtown is imperative for its long term sustainability.
DESIGN AWARD : Old National Bank
Old National Bank envisioned a long term commitment to the community through the decision and design of their new building at Kirkwood and Lincoln. The building boasts Indiana limestone, and other modern features.
ECONOMIC VITALITY AWARD : Monroe County Employee Parking Garage
As one of the largest employers in downtown Bloomington, the County created a new parking garage to address the need for more parking and the safety issues at the Monroe County Jail. It is on 7th and Morton and features electric car chargers and solar panels.
ORGANIZATION AWARD : Cardinal Stage Company
Celebrating their 10th anniversary, Cardinal Stage Company contributes to the cultural vibrancy of Downtown Bloomington.
